Manager – HR Business Partner, Advisory

Location: Los Angeles, CA
Working Model: Hybrid – 2–3 days onsite per week
 

We are partnering with a growing national professional services organization to hire a Manager-level HR Business Partner supporting a large, multi-service-line Advisory practice.

 

This is a highly visible, hands-on HRBP position for someone who enjoys operating at the intersection of employee relations and strategic people partnership. You will work closely with senior business leaders to navigate complex employee matters, strengthen organizational effectiveness, develop talent, and execute people initiatives aligned with broader business objectives.

The organization has a significant presence in California, making strong practical knowledge of California employment law particularly important.

 

The successful candidate will be proactive, commercially minded and comfortable operating with a high degree of autonomy in a fast-paced, client-focused environment.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a key HR Business Partner to leaders and employees across a national Advisory practice.

  • Provide both strategic and day-to-day HR guidance across employee relations, performance management, organizational effectiveness, talent development and workforce planning.

  • Lead and resolve complex employee relations matters, including workplace investigations, conflict resolution and performance issues.

  • Coach senior leaders on people management, employee development, organizational structure and change.

  • Develop strong relationships with business leadership to understand evolving organizational priorities, workforce requirements and talent needs.

  • Manage and develop direct reports while creating a collaborative and high-performing HR environment.

  • Partner with specialist HR teams across Talent Acquisition, Benefits, Payroll and other people functions.

  • Support annual talent processes including performance reviews, compensation planning, promotions and succession planning.

  • Ensure HR practices remain compliant with applicable federal, state and local employment requirements, with particular emphasis on California employment law.

  • Support employee engagement and retention initiatives across the business.

  • Leverage workforce data and HR reporting to identify trends and support business decision-making.

  • Maintain accurate employee information and support effective use of HRIS platforms.

  • Partner across the organization on strategic HR initiatives, special projects and risk mitigation.

What We're Looking For

  • 6+ years of progressive HR experience, with meaningful HR Business Partner and Employee Relations responsibilities.

  • Strong, hands-on experience managing complex employee relations matters and workplace investigations.

  • Strong working knowledge of California employment law and experience supporting California-based employees.

  • Experience within professional services, consulting, public accounting, legal, financial services or a similarly client-focused environment.

  • Experience advising and influencing senior business leaders on sensitive and complex people matters.

  • Ability to balance strategic HR partnership with hands-on execution.

  • Experience supporting multi-state employee populations is highly desirable.

  • Previous people-management experience is preferred.

  • Strong judgment, discretion and ability to navigate confidential employee matters.

  • Excellent relationship-building, communication and stakeholder-management skills.

  • Experience working with HRIS platforms.

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related discipline preferred; professional HR certifications are advantageous.
